Holly & Oliver’s Ravella Newcastle Wedding Styling

Couple’s Intro

Holly and Oliver’s Ravella Newcastle wedding styling was rich, romantic and full of personality from the moment guests arrived.

Deep burgundy, chocolate brown and black gave the celebration depth. Meanwhile, blush, peach, ivory and soft pink florals brought warmth and romance into the palette. As a result, the darker tones never felt heavy.

Importantly, Ravella already brings an incredible amount of character to a wedding. Built in 1905 and reinvigorated in 2023, the venue combines history with a very distinct modern identity. So, our approach to Holly and Oliver’s Ravella Newcastle wedding styling was about working with the beautiful building.

Above all, their wedding felt warm, intimate and wonderfully grown-up. At the same time, it never took itself too seriously. Instead, every detail worked together to create a celebration that felt romantic, generous and completely at home in the space.

The Design Brief

From the beginning, the design brief centred on a deep, warm colour story. However, rather than relying on one dominant colour, we built the palette through layers.

Firstly, burgundy became a recurring thread across the bridesmaid dresses, stationery and reception details. Then, chocolate and black added contrast through the chairs, ceremony carpet and darker floral notes. Meanwhile, ivory linen and soft blush flowers stopped the palette from becoming too dark.

Similarly, texture played an important role in this Ravella Newcastle wedding styling. Soft linen, glass candle cylinders, draped fabric, paper details and layered florals all sat against Ravella’s exposed brick, timber and herringbone flooring. Consequently, the contrast between soft and structured materials gave the design much more depth.

Moreover, the ceremony shows how important scale can be when styling a venue like Ravella. Rather than filling the Grand Hall with décor, we used the height and architecture already there. Specifically, the black aisle created one strong line through the room, while low floral arrangements and candlelight framed the journey towards the ceremony platform.

Then, at the end of the aisle, large asymmetrical floral arrangements brought colour and movement to the stage. Behind them, Ravella’s vast ivory draping created a calm backdrop. Therefore, Holly and Oliver remained the focus of the ceremony rather than disappearing amongst the styling.

Afterwards, the same design language moved naturally into the reception. Long linen-covered tables, black bentwood chairs and warm pools of table light gave the Grand Hall an intimate dinner-party feel. Meanwhile, carefully placed floral moments kept the room connected to the ceremony without simply repeating it.

Ultimately, strong Newcastle wedding styling is not about putting beautiful things into a room. Instead, it is about understanding the room first. For Holly and Oliver, that meant allowing Ravella’s brick, timber, chandeliers and scale to remain part of the finished design.

Key Pieces From Our Collection

For this Ravella Newcastle wedding styling, every hire piece had a job to do within the wider design. We selected pieces that added warmth, texture or contrast without competing with the venue.

  • Brushed gold cutlery: Firstly, brushed gold brought warmth to the reception tables without feeling overly bright or polished. In particular, the softer metallic finish worked beautifully beside burgundy stationery, ivory crockery and warm candlelight.
  • Linen napkins: Similarly, deep-toned linen napkins introduced colour directly into each place setting. As a result, even the individual guest settings felt connected to the wider burgundy and chocolate palette.
  • Linen tablecloths: Meanwhile, ivory linen softened the long reception tables and created contrast against Ravella’s dark bentwood chairs and timber floor. Consequently, the tables felt light enough to balance the deeper tones used elsewhere.
  • Valentina Draped Signing Table: In contrast, the Valentina Draped Signing Table introduced a beautiful hit of burgundy into the ceremony space. Moreover, its fluid draping echoed the large-scale fabric already used throughout Ravella, which helped the piece feel naturally connected to the venue.
  • Pillar candle glass cylinders: Throughout the ceremony, glass cylinders protected the flame while allowing candlelight to remain visible from every angle. Furthermore, grouping different heights beside the floral arrangements created depth without adding visual clutter.
  • Table lamps: As evening arrived, the small table lamps became an important part of the reception atmosphere. Instead of relying only on overhead light, they created warm pools of light along the tables and made the large Grand Hall feel more intimate.
  • Ceremony black carpet: Finally, the black ceremony carpet created a strong visual anchor through the centre of the Grand Hall. Rather than choosing a traditional pale aisle, the dark carpet gave the ceremony more drama and connected beautifully with the black chairs, deeper florals and Oliver’s dark suiting.

All About Florals

Importantly, the florals gave Holly and Oliver’s Ravella Newcastle wedding styling its warmth and personality. Blush, peach, ivory and deep burgundy blooms were mixed with soft greenery, roses, orchids and darker textural flowers.

Meanwhile, grounded ceremony arrangements framed the aisle and altar without competing with Ravella’s scale. Later, the same rich floral palette carried through the reception details and personal flowers, creating a clear visual thread from start to finish.

All About Graphic Design

Similarly, custom graphics helped tie the Ravella Newcastle wedding styling together. From the fabric welcome sign to the deep burgundy seating chart, every piece used colour, type and material to support the wider design.

Likewise, menus, place cards and table details brought those choices right down to each guest’s seat. As a result, the stationery felt like part of the styling rather than something added afterwards.
